The squirrel leaves over 10,000 families without electricity

A small squirrel caused power outages for more than 10,000 households in Virginia Beach, USA.

The unusual event, according to Bonita Harris, a spokeswoman for Dominion Energy, which provides electricity to Virginia and other states, occurred because the squirrel got inside the electrical cabinet, severing a good portion of the conductor wires.

She testifies that despite the fact that there are protective nets around the cabins to prevent wild animals from entering, they still manage.

Harris added that unfortunately the squirrel died after the incident due to electrocution. After many hours in the dark, the residents of Virginia Beach were able to return to normality.
