The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, at the security summit in Uzbekistan, said that he wants the conflict in Ukraine to end as soon as possible, but according to him, Kiev refuses negotiations.

"I understand your position on the conflict in Ukraine and we will do our best to end it as soon as possible," Putin told Modi during the bilateral talks.

But Vladimir Putin expressed regret that the opposing side, the leadership of Ukraine, according to him, has rejected peace talks and that Kiev wants to achieve its goals by military means.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Putin that this is not the time for war, as food and fuel are among the world's biggest concerns at the moment.

Later, Putin held talks with Turkish President Erdogan, who has asked him to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible through diplomacy.

The head of the Kremlin says that Erdogan is committed to ending the months-long war and accused his counterpart Zelensky of not showing readiness for talks.

Meanwhile, in a press conference from Uzbekistan, Putin emphasized that Russia is fighting in Ukraine with only part of the army and there is no rush.

"Little by little, the Russian army is taking more and more territories. I want to get your attention by reminding you that we are not fighting with the entire army, we are fighting only with a part of the Russian army, with a contract unit", said Putin, while emphasizing again that Russia's objective is to liberate Donbass.

On Kiev's counteroffensive, Putin said: "Let's see how it ends."
