Facebook blocks Russian media: Spreading Moscow propaganda through misleading tactics

Meta said it banned Russian state media from using its social media platforms, saying "they used deceptive tactics to reinforce Moscow's propaganda." The decision has been criticised by the Kremlin.

"Such selective actions against Russian media are unacceptable. We have an extremely negative attitude towards this," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a news conference.

Describing the decision as "a complete discredit of Meta", Peskov said it complicates prospects for normalizing its ties to the company.

Meta, owned by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, claimed on Monday it was banning RT, Rossiya Segodnya and other Russian state media networks from its platforms for "foreign interference activity."
