Sarah Sands still sees her 11-year-old twin sons Alfie and Reece running around the house.
It was an ordinary afternoon in October 2014 and she was ironing.
Her sons had gone to elderly neighbor Michael Plaisted's house to help him with some chores.
Reece after entering the house, run straight to the upper floor of the house.
"He sat down and was looking at me," says Sarah.
"His eyes were open. I said "honey whatever you say make sure it's the truth."
"He told me: "Mom is very bad"
This is the story of a desperate mother who took a knife and killed her elderly neighbor after he sexually abused her three sons, two twins and her eldest son.
Four weeks after the abuse took place, 31-year-old Sarah, overcome by anxiety and despair, took a knife from the kitchen drawer and walked across the block where they lived in East London to her neighbour's flat in Pleisted.
The man she thought was a neighbor was accused of sexually assaulting her sons. She had just discovered that he had also abused her eldest son, Bradley.
Minutes after entering the house, Pleisted, 77, was dying. Sarah had stabbed him eight times and watched him bleed to death without calling an ambulance.
Then with the knife in hand, he handed himself over to the nearby police station.
A police officer on duty that night in November 2014 says he remembers "a very frightened and vulnerable woman".
I would do what I did again as an "avenging angel" and as a woman who brought justice to the man who had hurt my children.
Jurors at her trial took her word for it and acquitted her of murder. Instead, she was convicted of manslaughter due to "loss of control" and served about four years in the community.
