Rescuers in Turkey have pulled two women alive from the rubble after they had been trapped for 122 hours, authorities said Saturday.
From the powerful earthquakes of February 6, the number of victims in Turkey and Syria has reached over 24,150.
A day earlier, the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said that the authorities should have acted more quickly after this natural disaster.
About 80,000 people are being treated in hospitals, while 1.05 million people have been left homeless, Oktay said.
"Our main goal is to make sure they return to normal life, providing them housing within a year and healing their pain as soon as possible," Oktay stressed.
In Syria, which was also hit by earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.5, the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, made his first visit to the areas affected by the earthquake. As reported by the Syrian state media, he and his wife Asma visited a hospital in Aleppo.
Monday's 7.8-magnitude earthquake - which was followed by several other powerful earthquakes - in Turkey and Syria, is the seventh deadliest disaster of this century.
