The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has condemned the violence perpetrated against Kosovar journalists in the north by the local Serbs there.
In a reaction on social networks, Kurti writes that the journalists were attacked by criminal gangs and extremist groups controlled by Serbia.
"Extremist groups controlled by Belgrade cannot tolerate the police or journalists. Kosovo Police serves justice and law, Kosovo journalism serves democracy and transparency. Today, in Leposaviq Municipality, criminal gangs attacked journalists who were present during the attempts of some individuals to cause riots and violence. Cameraman Bardh Bekteshi and journalist Dorentina Thaqi suffered head and body injuries. The other cameramen, Albin Rrahmani and Ardijan Shala, suffered injuries. Journalists Laura Kerolli and Qendresa Sinani were injured in the leg, while journalist Pleurat Salihu was injured in the arm.
We wish a speedy recovery for the cameramen and journalists".
Prime Minister Kurti asks the international community to condemn these behaviors and take a stand towards Serbia.
"We invite the international institutions and diplomats to take a stand and support the institutions of Kosovo to bring to justice all the attackers of the Kosovo Police, KFOR and especially journalists", concluded Kurti.
