The story of Alessandro Venier, the 35-year-old who was found dismembered in an old boiler in the basement of his house, has taken an unexpected turn. His mother, Lorena Venier, has broken down and revealed that she committed the macabre crime herself.

"It was me and I know what I did is monstrous," she confessed.

The young man's lifeless body was found chopped up with an axe in an old boiler in the basement of the house where he lived with his mother, partner and little girl, born a few months ago. Lime had been poured over the corpse to hide the smell.

The murder is suspected to have occurred on Friday, the last day he was seen alive.

The mother's lawyer has confirmed to Italian media that she has accepted the act of rape.

However, Venier's 31-year-old partner, of Colombian origin, is also under investigation. She, along with her mother-in-law, the victim's mother, notified emergency services of the location of the kettle and the body inside.

In the area where the crime took place, Gemona del Friuli, everyone knows each other and is shocked by the incident. Neighbors say there was no family feud between them and no precedent to suggest such a diabolical plan could be undertaken.

Lorena Venier is a well-known nurse in the area. She had given birth to a son from a relationship with an Egyptian, who later refused to recognize the child. Since then, she had moved to Gemona where she had started everything from scratch.

The neighbors speak well of her, as a kind woman and that they have never heard of any fights.

But how is it possible for such a person to become the "butcher" of his son?

Neighbors have said that on several occasions the carabinieri would come to their house. The reason was their son, who had several minor criminal records. He did not have a stable job, was passionate about fitness and mountain hiking. However, he had problems with alcohol and drugs.

According to initial reports, he was planning to go to Colombia, where he had been before and most likely met his partner.

One of the first investigative leads is that a fight may have occurred after the 35-year-old refused to set the table. A seemingly insignificant action, but which may have been the culmination of an accumulated frustration by the two women, tired of the young man's passivity and directionless life.
