A 13-year-old minor student was seen with a firearm inside the premises of a school in Ferizaj.

Regarding the case, the spokesperson for the Kosovo Police for the Ferizaj region, Kanun Veseli, spoke, confirming that today, at around 12:30, the "School Safety" operational plan unit from the Ferizaj police station was notified of the case in question.

"The police reacted immediately and during the search found the weapon (pistol) without cartridges," Veseli stated.

"The weapon was owned by the student's parent, who had a valid permit to possess a weapon. The firearm and ammunition were confiscated from the parent through regular police process. The minor, due to his age, was not interviewed, in accordance with the law," the spokesperson said.

"The State Prosecutor - Juvenile Department has been notified of the case, who has initiated an official report, under the prosecutor's authority for other actions," he said.

The Ferizaj Regional Police appeals to all licensed weapon owners, especially parents, to secure their weapons safely, preventing access by children or unauthorized persons, in order to preserve life and public safety.
