The official Twitter account of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has shared an image created with artificial intelligence showing him presenting US President Donald Trump with the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump has been on an open, and not at all hidden, campaign to win this award for years, since his first term as president, when he declared that "a lot of people" thought he deserved it.

This post from the Israeli prime minister's account came just today after the announcement that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of a US-brokered ceasefire plan.

Following the approval of the first phase of Trump's proposed peace plan between Israel and Hamas, people celebrating in the streets of Tel Aviv began calling for the US president to receive this prestigious award.

This year's winner is expected to be announced tomorrow, and Trump and his administration have made it clear that they believe the US president deserves this award.
