The Israeli military said on Thursday it was preparing to withdraw troops from Gaza after Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire deal to release the remaining hostages.
Operational preparations have begun ahead of the implementation of the agreement, The Guardian reported.
As part of this process, preparations are underway for a combat protocol, which will soon move into the appropriate lines of deployment.
According to reports, Hamas will release 20 live hostages as part of the first phase of the deal.
Meanwhile, Israel will release nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, 250 of them serving life sentences and another 1,700 detained since the start of the war, a senior Hamas official said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said the agreement to secure the hostages' release would only come into effect after receiving cabinet approval.
"The 72-hour countdown will only begin once the agreement is approved at the cabinet meeting, which is expected in the evening hours," the prime minister's office said.
