Authorities in Turkey arrested 19 actors, influencers and singers on Wednesday in a drug ring investigation. Among those taken into custody at the Istanbul Gendarmerie headquarters was Hadise Aç?kgöz, who represented Turkey in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Düm Tek Tek.
After leaving the gendarmerie headquarters, Hadise made a strange post on Instagram, writing: "I'm as confused as you." She then published images from a concert she gave in Ankara.
Among the people summoned for questioning were actors Demet Evgar, Özge Özpirincci, Mert Yaz?c?o?lu, Kaan Y?ld?r?m, Kubilay Aka, Berrak Tüzünataç and Meriç Aral, singers Hadise Aç?kgöz and ?rem Derici, as well as the influencer couple Ölans and ?rem Derici.
Dilan Polat's lawyer, Sevinç Horoz, said that her client had previously undergone tests that confirmed that she had not used drugs. "If this is considered insufficient, we are ready to undergo a new examination. It is impossible to understand what happened."
The Polats, who have built a multi-million dollar beauty business, have been in trouble with the law for the past two years. They were arrested last March on drug possession charges and are facing trial on charges of money laundering and tax evasion.
The investigation is being carried out by the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Smuggling, Narcotics and Economic Crimes Office, with authorities saying the investigation is focused on determining whether the suspects were using drugs and whether their use violates Turkish law.
