Thousands of combat drones arrived in Kosovo from Turkey this Wednesday, following an order placed by Pristina. The drones were supposed to arrive in January 2026, however, Prime Minister Albin Kurti himself went to the airport to greet their arrival three months early.
In a message on social media, Kurti explains that kamikaze drones, also known as RTF (Ready to Fly) Skydagger FpVs, are combat drones equipped with explosive devices with the aim of hitting moving and static enemy targets.
"With the purchase of this contingent of unmanned aerial vehicles, in addition to the TB2 Bayraktar and Puma aircraft, we are continuing to increase and increase the striking power of our army with the aim of building a capable and coherent force with new technological developments and contemporary warfare tactics. The drones were loaded onto the Rheinmetall 8×8 multifunctional trucks that we received last year, 15 in total, 10 purchased by us and 5 donated," Kurti writes.
But this news seems to have reached Belgrade quickly and was not well received by the Serbian president, who has labeled Turkey for selling weapons to the Pristina government.
"I am horrified by Turkey's behavior and the brutal violation of the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 1244, as well as the continued arming of the Pristina authorities. It is now completely clear that Turkey does not want the stability of the Western Balkans and dreams of rebuilding the Ottoman Empire again. Serbia is a small country, but we understood the message well," Vu?i? wrote on the "X" network.
The Skydagger drones carry explosives and can strike both moving and static targets, and depending on the model, can carry explosive devices weighing from two to five kilograms. Pristina has previously purchased Turkish TB2 “Bajraktar” drones and American “Puma” drones.
