"Peace is not a bird with one wing, the burden of peace cannot be on Hamas alone," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Speaking to lawmakers, Erdogan said the talks taking place in Sharm el-Sheikh were important and he hoped they would end successfully.

"Hamas responded very positively to the peace plan. Thus, it clearly demonstrated its will for peace. Placing the entire burden of peace on Hamas and the Palestinians is not fair. Currently, the biggest obstacle on the path to peace is Israeli attacks. If peace is truly desired, Israeli attacks must stop immediately."

Meanwhile, a recent post by the Turkish presidency on the X platform suggests that Donald Trump has called the Turkish leader and asked for his help in convincing Hamas. The Turks' involvement in the negotiations is seen as a key role in ensuring the group's cooperation.

Hamas has not agreed to several points of the peace plan proposed by the head of the White House, and has also demanded real security guarantees for accepting a ceasefire with Israel.

The 20-point plan includes a cessation of fighting, the release of all hostages, the removal of Hamas from the territory and the election of an interim government to lead the country.

The talks in Egypt are in their third day.
