A serious incident has shaken the Greek capital Athens today, where an 89-year-old man opened fire in two different institutions, leaving several people injured and fleeing the scene.

According to authorities, the elderly man first forced his way into the EFKA offices in the Kerameikos area, where he shot an employee standing on the fourth floor of the building. He then fled in a taxi and, hiding the gun, headed towards the Athens Court of Appeals, where he opened fire again, wounding four other female court employees.

All victims have been taken to the "Red Cross" hospital, and according to doctors, their injuries are minor and not life-threatening.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic inside the buildings, saying the perpetrator fired several shots and then quickly fled, leaving behind various letters.

Greek authorities have launched a large-scale search operation to capture him, as he is reportedly known as a garbage collector and is suspected of suffering from psychological problems. Police are also investigating how the perpetrator managed to move between the two institutions without being stopped and whether he had any possible help during his escape.
