US President Donald Trump has reacted sharply to a Reuters journalist after the latter asked him about his health and his decision not to visit Kansas ahead of the midterm elections, which are to be held on November 3.

In front of cameras and other reporters, Trump addressed the reporter in high tones, who asked him if the visit had been canceled due to a possible health problem.

"You're sick! Lie down, you're disgusting, you look absolutely horrible! Who do you work for?" Trump told him.

When the journalist replied that he worked for Reuters, the US president also attacked the news agency, describing it as "terrible."

"Look at this man, he's completely untrained," Trump continued.

Then, in a monologue to reporters, the president explained that he would not be going to Kansas, saying that things were going very well and that he would be participating in a televised campaign event.

"Tomorrow I'm going to Florida. After I've done – what? – 28 rallies? He asks me: 'What's the reason, sir, that you won't go to Kansas?'

"You know what the reason is? I don't feel like I have to go to Kansas," Trump declared.
