In January 2022, the State Police carried out an operation in the city of Durrës, arresting several people and placing several others on the wanted list. Several Turkish citizens were arrested, who had turned the historic building of the "Adriatik" hotel in Durrës into an unlicensed gambling establishment.

The police action quickly fizzled out, because the bosses intervened in other law enforcement institutions, initially softening the accusations against the Turks and then focusing on removing the building's owners, Besnik and Nevila Duda, from the investigation.

Surprisingly, no charges were brought against them, as time passed and the owners of the “Adriatik” hotel building in Durrës began lobbying to expand their activity. Three years after that police action, the Duda family managed to obtain a reconstruction permit for the entire area.

According to documents obtained exclusively by VoxNews, the 68-year-old hotel building will be demolished to make way for a 12-story building. But the wonders of this country are not over; in addition to the destruction of history, the new building will also house a casino!

It seems that the owners, or the people behind it, have turned illegality into legality, while through lobbying and connections all the way to the government dome, they have managed to obtain licenses to operate casinos.

There are strong suspicions that gambling revenues will be used to build new buildings, which will be more luxurious and taller.

With a stroke of the pen, the heads of state have destroyed a long history of its existence. Hotel "Adriatic" in Durrës was a vacation spot, built during the "twinning" of Albania with Russia. Many leaders have stayed there, even those few diplomats who visited our country.

But money and Russians do not ask for history. Especially since gambling is also in the middle, where money is not lacking and is mainly invested in tourism and construction. According to documents available to VoxNews, a few days ago the National Council of Territory and Water has issued the permit for "approval of the development permit for the 'Adriatik Hotel & Residences' facility, a hotel, services and residences structure, 1-12 floors above ground and 1 floor underground, located on "Pavarësia" street, Durrës Municipality.

The proposal for the permit came from the company "Duda", owned by Besnik and Nevila Duda. The documents state that the area for which this project is proposed is located in Durrës, namely in cadastral area no. 8518.

"The position of the complex is between 'Pavarësia' street and the sea, in the beach area of ??the city of Durrës and has historically been oriented towards tourist facilities. More specifically, the project proposes the redevelopment of the 'Adriatic' hotel, to transform it into a structure with quality and contemporary services. Originating since 1957, the existing beach structure underwent a complete renovation in 2000," the documents state.

According to her, the construction site has a land area of ??14,982 m². "The aim of the developer DUDA shpk is to build a new tourist complex with two main buildings, a building with 3 floors above ground, and a small 1-story building at the entrance," the document continues.

According to KKTU, the building will be the new 5-star "Adriatic" hotel building, conceived to combine the historical elements of the existing building on the lower floors with a contemporary superstructure on the upper floors, while the building positioned inside the square, on the South-Eastern side of the complex, will be the Branded Residences building.

"The two buildings will be organically connected from the ground floor where the gastronomy services, business spaces and the casino will be located. Underground,
mainly technical spaces, parking and SPA will be developed," the document continues.

KKTU writes that the old building will be demolished and several floors will be built with the same structure as the old one.

The document of the National Council of Territory and Water paradoxically cites that "Adriatik Hotel & Residences" will not be an intervention that erases history, but a revival of it.

"Although the existing 'Adriatic' hotel building will be demolished due to structural deterioration and non-compliance with contemporary standards for the design of accommodation structures, its architectural spirit will be restored through the new complex that will be built with contemporary construction technologies," continues KKTU.

According to her, the project envisages that the lower floors of the building, 1-12 floors, positioned inside the square, by the sea, on the South-West side of the complex, recreate the style and identity elements of the old building - such as the silhouette, height and number of floors, the proportion of openings and characteristic architectural details - while maintaining the connection with the local historical landscape.

The new building project will also have a giant casino incorporated into the 12-story building.

The cola passed and 3 years after the sensational action, the company and its owners will build another casino. In fact, the reconstruction will be more suited to the casino, since the money that will be invested is mainly from gambling.

It is learned that the complex will be a 5-star hotel with the exclusive experience of branded residences.

"The project aims to offer a wide range of functions and activities - from quality accommodation, diverse gastronomy and business spaces, to a casino, swimming pools and green areas - creating a complete center of tourism, entertainment and relaxation on the coast of Durrës," the document continues.

According to her, there will be 150 rooms, 110 residences, 42 units in Building A and 68 in Building B. There will be restaurants, bars and a skybar. However, the main ones will be the business lounges and the casino with a dedicated entrance.
