The DNA of Albanians is still the same as today's Arbëresh people, but we have great genetic similarities with Greeks as well.
This is the result of a study carried out by geneticists from the University of Tirana and that of Bologna on the genetic links in the Mediterranean population.
Academician Ilia Mikerezi, one of the authors of the study, tells A2CNN that the genetic links with Arbëresh people in Italy are still very strong.
It also turned out that we are genetically similar to the population of northern Greece. Meanwhile, the Academy of Sciences, through the Department of Nano-science, aims to study the genetic link between today's Albanian and Illyrian populations.
Meanwhile, previous studies have shown the genetic similarities of Albanians with the populations of the Balkan areas due to their movements over the years.
