Who collaborated with the Germans?

After the end of the Winter Operation 1943-1944, the arrival of spring marked not only the revival of the partisan movement, but also the higher activity of the nationalist forces in terms of cooperation with the German army. In a document of the Command of the XI Mountain Corps of the German Wehrmacht, dated April 14, 1944, with the theme "Clarifications on the map of gangs in Albania" , all Albanian combat groups are listed.

The list begins with the gangs that fought against the German army (point A), which meant the partisan forces, continues with  "B. Bands with a neutral attitude" , where the names of Abaz Kupi with 500-3000 forces, Fiqiri Dines with 300 forces and Myftar Kaloshi with 500 men are given and ends with " C. Security groups and gangs cooperating with the Wehrmacht" , which meant nationalist forces, where most of them were organized under the leadership of the National Front.

The total number of rifles of the Nationalist forces that the Germans give in this list is 15,350 rifles, grouped in over 70 combat squads. This list also includes 2-3 Macedonian ballistic detachments, which are still few in number. If we look at the list, we come to the conclusion that it includes almost all the active detachments of the National Front, divided according to their areas and combat organization, from the detachment level up to the battalion level. In the list, the underlined names mean the main nationalist leaders of the respective areas (districts) and after them the names of the leaders of the chetas are listed.

Below we are giving the full facsimile of the document that was extracted from the German archives (BA/MA RH 19XI/10b) and highlighted point C of this list.
