The months of August and early September have brought important developments in the Amantia Archaeological Park, where new elements have been discovered and restoration projects have been carried out on existing monuments.

During archaeological excavations, the surrounding wall of the lower city of Amantia was discovered, a structure previously unknown to researchers. According to archaeologists, this wall is thought to have been built in the 3rd century BC and destroyed in the 6th century AD. This powerful fortification sheds light on the urban and public organization of the Illyrian city, adding a new chapter in the history of this ancient center.

In addition to excavations, restoration and conservation interventions have also been carried out on monumental tombs and several other monuments identified in recent years, which were at risk from climatic agents such as frost and rain.

According to specialists, these works are necessary for the preservation of the archaeological heritage, while the new discoveries enrich the historical landscape of the Amantia Park. They bring new data about the life of the Illyrian city, while ensuring that these values ??are presented to today's visitors and preserved for future generations.

Prime Minister Edi Rama also reacted to this discovery through a post on social media, where he emphasized that this powerful fortification sheds light on the urban and public organization of the Illyrian city, adding a new chapter to the history of this ancient center.

"Meanwhile, specialists have also carried out a necessary restoration intervention to protect the monumental tombs, as well as other conservation works on the monuments identified in recent years, thus enriching the archaeological landscape of the Antique Park ," Rama writes.
