The Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, has announced the signing of an important agreement for the preservation of cultural heritage in the city of Durrës.
Through a collaboration with the Concessionary Company "PORTI MBM", restoration interventions will be financed on the first category monument "Porta Walls (Porto Romano)", dating back to the 6th century AD.
"This is an important step to save one of the earliest testimonies of Durrës' urban history, turning it into a living value of our cultural heritage ," said Minister Gonxha.
According to the agreement, “PORTI MBM” will cover all the costs of the restoration, which will be carried out in accordance with the criteria of heritage protection. The monument will be accessible to the public, while maintenance and management will continue to be carried out by the responsible state institutions.
This initiative aims not only to preserve, but also to revitalize one of Durrës' most precious historical monuments.
