New details have emerged from the tragic incident that occurred yesterday in the Paskuqan area , where a construction worker lost his life while performing his duties at a building under construction.

The circumstances of the accident remain under investigation, and it is suspected that the victim fell from a considerable height.

The victim is Halil Picari , 65 years old, who was employed as an electrician's assistant.

He is suspected of falling from the eighth floor of the building and dying instantly due to the severe injuries he sustained.

The incident was attempted to be kept secret, but after the publication of the news by VoxNews, the police immediately reacted, announcing that they had arrested the administrator of the company. The police announced that they had arrested the administrator of the construction company "Al Great" sh.pk. , citizen Avni Mekshi , 61 years old, whom the police accuse of violating safety and protection rules at work.

VoxNews has learned that police are investigating the lack of necessary safety measures at the construction site, which may have directly influenced the fatal accident.

It is not known whether the facility was equipped with scaffolding, protective nets, and personal safety equipment for workers.

But what the police are hiding is the construction company, why has it not taken any measures against it, where liability according to Albanian legislation is joint.

Let us quote : Article 289 “ Violation of safety regulations at work, when it has resulted in death, is punishable by imprisonment .” and Article 281 “ Causing the death of a person through negligence is punishable by imprisonment .”

These articles are used by the Prosecution Office to prosecute: the subcontractor's administrator, the technical manager, and the builder.

To hide the builder, the police found it easier to arrest the administrator of the subcontractor company.

Meanwhile, the family of the 65-year-old man are demanding a full investigation into the incident, expressing concern over various and contradictory statements from people present at the construction site at the time of the accident.

"We want to know exactly where he was working. There are different versions, some say he slipped on the stairs, others that he fell from the scaffolding. We demand that the truth come to light," said the victim's family members.

We recall that this event brings back attention to the issue of safety at construction sites.

Construction sites are turning into " death camps " which are a serious concern even in 2025, especially in the Tirana area , where the intensity of construction is often accompanied by neglect of basic standards for the protection of workers' lives.
