Thousands of Albanian citizens are being exposed to a potentially major fraud, as the company Air Albania continues to sell flight tickets, even though its license is officially suspended.

A day ago, Kapitali published the news of the license suspension, which, although officially decided by the Civil Aviation Authority at the beginning of this month, has not been publicly announced.

But because the company is continuing to sell tickets, potentially exposing thousands of Albanian citizens to a major fraud, today Kapitali publishes the official suspension document.

In order not to expose the source, the document is not published in full, but it clearly proves that the company's license has been suspended. The Air Code of the Republic of Albania textually sanctions that at the moment of suspension of the operating license an airline is obliged to automatically stop selling tickets.

The chances of Air Albania regaining its license are almost non-existent. Kapitali publishes a document proving that the branch of Turkish Airlines in Kosovo, the holding company of Air Albania, has stopped selling tickets for flights operated by Air Albania.

Scandal/ Even though its license is suspended, Air Albania continues to sell

Through an official announcement, Turkish in Kosovo has informed all travel agencies that it will no longer sell any tickets for Air Albania flights, following the suspension of its license.

"Due to the situation created with Air Albania flights, our company is forced to discontinue sales in the system for flights operated by Air Albania," reads the announcement that Turkish has distributed in Kosovo.

But while Turkish has stopped selling tickets, Air Albania is continuing to sell tickets as if nothing has happened. The act is made even more serious by the fact that this is a potential fraud with the co-authorship of the state.

This is because the state is a 10 percent shareholder in Air Albania, through Albcontrol.

As Air Albania continues its adventures, drawing the state in, thousands of citizens may fall prey to a government scam if they continue to book flights with Air Albanian.

Meanwhile, no institution is mastering the situation to protect citizens./ Kapital
