Klodian Braho has been elected the new head of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime.

After the meeting where the candidates were interviewed, the KLP voted with 7 votes in favor of Klodian  Braho as leader of SPAK, Adnan  Xholi received 3 votes and Elvin  Gokaj 1.

Klodian Braho will have a 3-year term as head of SPAK, succeeding Altin Duman, whose term ends on December 18. Braho will officially take office at a handover ceremony on December 19, 2025.

Who is Klodian Braho?

Klodian Braho is a prosecutor at SPAK. He was appointed to this institution on December 19, 2019, after being confirmed in office by the Independent Qualification Commission as part of the re-evaluation process, or as it is otherwise called, the vetting process.

Braho entered the justice system on November 14, 2007, after completing his studies at the Faculty of Law at the University of Tirana and the School of Magistrates.

He began his career as a prosecutor at the Prosecution Office at the Berat Judicial District Court, where he worked until 2012. He then transferred to the Vlora Prosecution Office, where he served until 2015, including a period as deputy head of this institution.

In 2015, Braho was appointed to the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office in Tirana, where he was involved in investigations of cases of a special criminal nature. After the dissolution of this prosecution office and the creation of SPAK, he was appointed a prosecutor in the new structure.

During his career, Braho has been part of investigations related to high-ranking officials and subjects suspected of organized crime. Among the files he has followed is the one against former Chief Prosecutor Adriatik Llalla.

In July 2019, the Independent Qualification Commission confirmed him in office with decision no. 191, paving the way for his appointment to SPAK.

In 2022, he was involved in the process of running for the position of head of SPAK, but then withdrew from the race.

In March 2023, Braho resigned from part of a file he had under investigation, related to the incinerator issue, following allegations raised by parties involved about a lack of transparency in procedural actions.
