The European Delegation in Tirana will be headed by 57-year-old Christiane Hohman from Berlin, reports the European External Action Service (EEAS).

The diplomat is considered to be an iron woman in her work, familiar with the Balkans as she has previously been ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Most recently he was in Estonia.

After graduating from high school in 1983, Christiane Hohmann began her studies as an English and French language mediator in Berlin, which she completed in 1988.

For the next three years she was a research student of English literature at Humboldt University in Berlin and then completed her senior foreign service preparatory service between 1991 and 1993.

After graduation, Hohman was initially employed at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin and from 1994 to 1997 at the Embassy in the United States.

She then worked again in the Federal Foreign Office from 1997 to 2000 and then until 2003 was the ambassador's permanent representative in Cameroon.

In 2016 Christiane Hohmann replaced Christian Hellbach as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In July 2019 she was transferred to the German Embassy in Tallinn, Estonia.
