Black Thursday on Wall Street, US markets lose $3.2 trillion

This was a Black Thursday for Wall Street, where American markets suffered sharp declines, losing a full $3.2 trillion in value.

The massive investor withdrawal from stocks, especially those in the technology and artificial intelligence sectors, shook the New York Stock Exchange.

The decline erased significant gains recorded after the US midterm elections, while concerns about a slowdown in data center expansion added to uncertainty in markets.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 3.44% to 51,521.28 points. The S&P 500 also recorded a sharp loss of 4.3% to 7,353.80 points, while the Nasdaq suffered the biggest drop, falling 5.52% to 24,315 points.

At the center of concerns are technology companies and those related to artificial intelligence, whose shares fell for the second day in a row.

Investors are increasingly showing uncertainty about the pace of investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure, particularly in the construction and expansion of data centers.

Another factor that has influenced the market climate is the political outcome in the US. Fears that a landslide victory for Democrats could lead to setbacks or slowdowns in data center expansion projects have added pressure on shares in this sector.
