Many people, as an alternative to get away from the summer heat, choose the nearest swimming pools to cool off a bit.

But, their water is actually not very skin friendly.

If you visit the swimming pools, you should keep some things in mind.

As we all know, chlorine is the main disinfectant of swimming pool water. But, in addition to its protective action, this substance can provoke various disturbances in the skin. The eyes and lips are the most sensitive areas of the face and therefore must be protected with the greatest care from the effects of substances found in swimming pool water.

Eye irritations are a fairly frequent concern caused by contact with chlorine, where the main symptoms are burning and redness. Children, both for their great sensitivity and for the time spent in the water, are the most at risk. But even adults, if they stay too long in the water, can suffer skin inflammation, especially if they have dry and particularly delicate skin. The advice is to use specific products found in pharmacies. But, in case you notice bigger skin concerns, then go to the specialist doctor.

Swimming in the pool: how to protect yourself from health risks

For those unlucky enough to live in a coastal city, swimming pools in the summer are the only escape from the unbearable heat. But, on the other hand, the pool water itself contains substances dangerous to health. This fact is confirmed by a large number of hygiene specialists. According to them, if a set of rules are not followed by the owners and customers of the pools, the risk of getting various types of infections is very high. First of all, swimming pool water can cause ear problems and various dermatological concerns, as a result of bacteria found in unhygienic environments. But other microorganisms also live in swimming pools, especially if the water is dirty. Another source of spread of these microorganisms are wounds. Therefore, you should never bathe in the pool when you have an open wound, because you can infect the environment, but also worsen your condition.

To overcome these risks, it is enough to follow some simple rules. First of all, pool keepers should clean them every day, without abusing chlorine, since as we mentioned above it is harmful to health. Vacationers, for their part, should always shower before and after entering the pool water, because this action alone removes 80% of the temporary bacterial flora.

Necessity of hat and hair mask

Washing your hair all day in the pool is not good at all, because the sun's rays and chlorine dry and fade the pigment, while colored hair is most at risk. In addition, chlorine (which is essential in pool water for disinfection and protection from skin diseases) deeply damages the hair structure. If you don't want to wear a bathing cap, before entering the pool, put some protective oil in your hair that blocks the harmful action of the sun and chlorine. You can also put on a protective mask after washing.

Fader, due to chlorine

Chlorine does not only harm the hair, but it also dries the skin of the body. Therefore, after spending a whole day in the pool, after the bath you will take at home, paint your body with moisturizing skin milk. You may not know it, but chlorine is also dangerous for your tan, because it can fade the dark color you acquired from exposure to the beach. The only remedy is to immediately enter the shower after each swim in the pool and use water-resistant preparations for exposure during the day.

What happens to melanin when you go to the pool?

If going to the pool will be your first summer exposure to the sun, don't wait too long. The skin under the action of ultraviolet rays produces melanin, which is responsible for the tanning of the skin, but its production begins after 48 or 72 hours from the first exposure to the sun. Therefore, in order not to burn, apply tanning preparations with a protective factor. After exposure, coat the body with moisturizing body milk with aloe vera extract. It will soothe eventual redness.

Follow these tips to best protect yourself from dangerous pool water agents and also enjoy the coolness of the water on these hot days.
