Pensions will be indexed by 2.5% in October, here is the increase in lek for each category

Pensions will be indexed by only 2.5% in October. This is the result of the Consumer Price Index of the basket of goods and services for pensioners calculated by the Institute of Statistics. 

With this indexation, which is expected to receive the seal of approval from the Administrative Council of the Social Security Institute and then from the Council of Ministers, urban old-age pensions increase by approximately 490 lek, if we take as a reference the average value of this category, which at the end of 2024 was 1,609 lek. Meanwhile, for rural pensions, the increase is 296 lek, since the average rural pension is 11,878 lek.

Albania has a total of 721,398 pensioners, of which 630 thousand are urban pensioners and 91 thousand are rural. 

Indexation this year is lower than last year, which was 4.1%, and the reason for the decrease is the drop in inflation compared to the period 2023-2024.
