After the government meeting, Minister Enea Karakaçi, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, "debunked" the DP's proposal to reduce the turnover tax in order to lower the price of oil.
Asked by journalists what the government's position is regarding the DP's draft laws, the minister said that every EU country has a turnover tax, while Albania has it on oil and not on vehicles.
"The circulation tax to be reduced by 45 lekë means it should be 45 lekë. It's not that much lekë. We have followed a different model. The circulation tax is in the EU, some segment it by fuel, some by vehicles.
We have judged it on fuel, because the one who uses the vehicle the most pays more tax. We are following the fuel market with all interest groups, there are different models.
"We have followed the model of setting a ceiling price, we have not yet made a decision on the Transparency Board. As was announced yesterday, this board can be created by a decision of the Council of Ministers," the minister said.
