The Institute of Statistics, after the publication of the main results of the Census for 2023, offers to the public and all users, the publication of dedicated results for each district and the relevant municipalities.

The population of the country's capital on September 18, 2023 is estimated at 758,513, of which 48.4% are males and 51.6% are females. According to the data, from the total population it results that about 51.2% have marital status, i/married.

But, apart from the main characteristics, how is the population of the capital made up?

"Scan Intel" previously focused on internal migration as a social phenomenon through which people move from their country of origin to another country within the same country. The analysis showed that Albanians are mostly settled between Tirana and coastal cities.

From the 2023 Census data, we can now make a detailed analysis on the characteristics of the resident population, mainly according to the county of birth. The figures show that out of about 758 thousand inhabitants in Tirana, about 97.9% are from Albania and 2.1% are from another country.

Expressed in absolute numbers, Tirana has 742,497 inhabitants of Albania. But how is this number of people living in the capital divided according to the county of birth?

Based on the data, about 52.9% of this figure are from Tirana or in other words people born in Tirana. It turns out that a good part of the population living in the country's capital originates from Dibra and Kukës.

About 8.6% is the weight of residents originating from Dibra, or in absolute value it is recorded at about 63 thousand. Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Tirana originating from Kukësi occupy a share of 6.5% or about 48 thousand. Korça is the third with the highest share of 5.2%, followed by Fieri, Berat and Elbasan.

On the other hand, residents in Tirana who have Lezha as their birthplace have the lowest weight with 1.9% or about 14 thousand residents.
