The Albanian government has approved in principle the agreement with the European Investment Bank for the opening of its representative office in Albania.
This agreement comes as part of efforts to strengthen the partnership and benefit from EIB financing in important sectors for the sustainable development of the country.
But what exactly is the EIB financing in Albania?
The European Investment Bank is providing technical support to the government of Albania for the preparation of the Corridor VIII railway project on the Durrës - Rrogozhinë and Rrogozhinë - Pogradec railway lines.
Meanwhile, the European Investment Bank, which is owned by 27 EU governments, is financing Albania in important infrastructure projects, such as the rehabilitation of the Vorë-Hani i Hoti railway line, providing loans for this project of 100 million euros.
The rehabilitation of this railway line is expected to bring a number of benefits in terms of transport, but also the environment. This project is important not only for Albania, but also for the region, facilitating the movement of citizens and goods.
The European Investment Bank offers its support to important sectors of the economies of the countries of the Western Balkans that aspire to join the European Union, such as the Republic of Albania, a candidate for EU membership and integration.
