Erion Veliaj's lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, stated tonight on the "Opinion" show that Prime Minister Edi Rama called him and threatened him during a tense communication.
The lawyer for the mayor of Tirana said that there were exchanges of threats and mutual insults between him and the prime minister, and that such communication also occurred on Monday.
According to Ndreca, the clash is related to the relationship between Rama and Veliaj.
He stated that the Prime Minister personally accused him of promoting Veliaj's political independence towards him.
"I have had tense communication with the Prime Minister. Even today. I have had phone calls with mutual threats and insults. Tense. It is not good to bring them out, but I am forced. I am a witness myself and I have communications with the Prime Minister. Rama called me and expressed his dissatisfaction with me as a political advisor. He told me: You have encouraged Veliaj's independence from me ," said Ndreca.
Ndreca said that he is a witness to the events mentioned in the third point of the letter published by Veliaj and that he possesses communications that, according to him, support the mayor's claims.
The mayor's lawyer said that the change in Veliaj's treatment began after the reaction to the protests in Serbia, while providing details regarding the meeting between Justice Minister Toni Gogu and Erion Veliaj in Fier prison.
"From the moment he made the message about Serbia, there has been a change in behavior towards Veliaj from the Prison Directorate. Gogu says he went to see the prison conditions, but they met in the prison director's office for an hour and a half. The prison conditions are not visible in the director's office. I was not allowed to meet Veliaj outside of official hours, while Gogu was allowed even though the law treats us the same as the lawyer and the minister," said Ndreca.
