The fire situation in the south of the country has worsened, especially in Borsh, where the flames have approached the beach. The main Himara-Saranda road near Borsh is currently impassable due to the danger from the flames that have invaded the tourist village.

As a result, authorities have been forced to evacuate many residents who live in apartments at risk from the massive fire, as well as vacationers accommodated in hotels in Borsh.

Until yesterday, the situation in Sasaj and Piqera was also reported to be critical.

Through a post on social media, Defense Minister Piro Vengu reports that in Borsh, Piqeras and Sasaj, aerial action has resumed with two Air Force helicopters to neutralize fires that have threatened homes and businesses in the area due to strong winds that favored the rapid spread of flames during the early morning hours.

He also notes that while firefighters and the Armed Forces stationed in Borsh provided security perimeters around homes overnight, the State Police and civil emergency workers helped residents and vacationers evacuate from the most endangered areas, escorting 40 of them to safety.
