An investigation by the Italian prosecutor's office revealed a corrupt scheme, where around 11 million disposable anti-Covid clothing was produced illegally in Albania and then sent to Italy.

The Italian media reports that the clothing was made with a different material from the one that was certified and although the "GAP" consortium was contractually linked to Made in Italy, they had produced it in Albania. Before importation to the neighboring country, their sleeves were sewn and the tags were removed, so as not to be aware of the breach of contract.

The clothes were then entrusted to Chinese companies who did the packaging of the clothes without the required hygiene conditions. 1,918,000 jerseys ended up in Rome where they were sold at the price of 6.10 euros each.

32 people were put under investigation, while 43.2 million euros of assets were seized from the consortium.

From the e-mails seized by the police, it emerged that all the most important communications were forwarded to the personal accounts of the brothers, Samuele and Massimiliano Piccolo, who ended up in prison on charges of fraud, embezzlement of public supplies.
