The publisher and publicist Ndriçim Kulla was among the last to talk to Kastriot Myftaraj yesterday before the analyst committed suicide by jumping from the building where he lived on Ali Demi Street.
In an interview for BW , Kulla says that yesterday's conversation was focused on the health condition of Myftaraj, who had begun to recover from a bad disease and was thinking of continuing the treatment outside Albania.
According to Kulla, Myftaraj was afraid to be cured in Albania because they could kill him because of the public positions he has taken.
You were one of the people who often talked with Kastriot Myftaraj. Did you communicate yesterday?
He communicated with me from time to time, but we were not very close. During this time, Dr. Mentor Petrela asked me what we were going to do because he had a diagnosis for Kastrioti. He had an unconscious sleep in the cafe. I think that if there was a tumor, it would not be so aggressive. He was thinking about how to treat himself and asked me about it. I had given him several alternatives. He left the hospital, and was thinking how to get out. He didn't tell me much, he kept them to himself. 2 days ago I was in Saranda, he called me and asked me about my pulse. I gave him some instructions on what I was doing for the pulse. He asked me yesterday too, but he told me that he had been calm. From the 10th, he would leave for Switzerland. I don't know what happened. I can't imagine anything. But he was calm.
During these days, there were people who doubted the event. As Kastriot Frashëri or Alfred Cako have said, he could not kill himself...
I cannot enter into this discussion. Anything can happen. It may not even be ruled out. He was diagnosed with cancer, not exhaustively. If you can see it from his attitudes, he was a controversial journalist, very cultured, very knowledgeable. No one read more than him in this country. Every now and then it exploded. I disagreed with him on many things. People like that controversy, have told society their problems openly.
Let's go back to the conversation you had yesterday two hours before he jumped from the palace. What conversations did you have, did you notice any signs?
He consulted with me. I told them that I have problems with tension and I care a lot. That's why he asked me. Kastrioti was the nephew of Arqile Boti's wife. Doctor Boti assisted me and saved my life. This has connected us with Kastriot. At first I was reluctant to associate with him. He was a complex man, but I saw things that I didn't see in other people. The conversation yesterday was for health reasons. He didn't hang out with me much, he hung out with other people more. He seemed to me a very strong man, a warrior. I couldn't imagine that man killing himself. It was very hermetic personally. I cannot say that he was killed, this requires a technical, psychological, sociological analysis. He was looking for an escape, I know that well.
Why did he want to be cured outside?
There was a paranoia that they could kill here, because of his attitudes. I do not doubt that they may have killed him, but I am surprised by the action because he was very strong, he was a warrior. This surprises me.
