The Elbasan Prosecutor's Office has closed the investigation and sent to trial Leonard Bashaliu, 36, accused of killing 44-year-old Ylber Xhahysa. The crime for revenge occurred on 08.06.2021 in the village of Gjocaj in Peqin. 

The victim and the perpetrator had acquaintances with each other. According to the investigation, there was an early conflict between them that had its origin 5 years before the crime took place, a time when the suspected perpetrator had a conflict with the victim after the latter had scratched his vehicle.

Leonard Bashali was also worried about the fact that Ylber Xhahysa was removed as the "strongman" of the village. The suspected perpetrator appeared psychologically aggravated after the crime and said: "I was taken in vain because 5 years ago he punched me and today the debate started with words and ended with the use of a firearm".

Bashaliu was arrested by the Elbasan police after the event and was investigated with the security measure "Prison arrest". He is charged with "Premeditated Murder", "Disturbance of public order" and "Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosives and ammunition" provided by Articles 78/1, 274 and 278/1 of the Criminal Code.
