Veliaj seeks freedom, hearing at the Supreme Court today

At noon today, the appeal of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, will be reviewed at the High Court.

Veliaj has requested his release from the cell, where he has been held since February 10.

The hearing will take place at 12:00 in the consultation room without the presence of the parties, with rapporteur Judge Albana Boksi and members Medi Bici and Sokol Binaj.

Veliaj is accused of passive corruption, concealment of assets and money laundering. On June 17, the GJKKO rejected his request for release on bail, arguing that there are no new conditions for changing the security measure.
