A video provided by Top Channel shows the moments after a gasoline explosion on a speedboat in Porto Palermo, Himara, injuring four people.

The video footage shows smoke rising from the flames, while a rubber boat quickly approaches the boat, rushing to help the injured. In another moment of the footage, a citizen is seen swimming rapidly near the scene.

From the footage, it appears that the incident occurred near the shore, which enabled the rapid intervention of people in the area.

The injured have been identified as Mateo Merdanaj, Aleks Doda, Xhemal Ismailaj and Ardinant Qaziu. They suffered burns while repairing the boat's engine, after gasoline in the engine compartment and tank allegedly caught fire.

According to preliminary data, one of the people is suspected of being smoking a cigarette at the moment when the gasoline caught fire, causing the explosion and fire.

The four injured were initially taken to the Himara hospital. One of them is reported to have suffered burns to around 50% of his body, while another has suffered even more severe burns.

Due to their health condition, they were then transported to Vlora and, after receiving first aid, they headed to Tirana for more specialized treatment.

The incident in Porto Palermo occurred just a day after a fire at a hotel in Vlora, which injured six people. Two of them remain in serious condition./TCH
