Over 50 hectares burned in Puka, fire on Mount Terbun is out of control, aerial intervention impossible

The fire on Mount Terbun in Puka has reached considerable proportions, as strong winds are rapidly spreading the flames.

The Chief of the Fire Service in Puka, Agron Hadroj, says that the strong wind is hindering efforts to bring the flames under control as was managed until the day before.

Aerial intervention is becoming impossible due to the wind blowing in the area, while firefighting vehicles are unable to intervene in every corner of the fire.

"Until yesterday afternoon, the situation was under control, but today there was a very strong wind that took us out of control. We are fighting in the direction of Tërbun and Gjegjan. In the afternoon, the situation worsened due to the wind, however, we have engaged the fire service, volunteers, and the armed forces. I think 50 hectares have burned. Air intervention here is impossible due to the rugged terrain," said Hadroj.

Puka firefighters, Forest Service employees, volunteers and Armed Forces personnel continue their efforts to contain the spread of the flames. Due to the difficult terrain and strong winds, the intervention with emergency vehicles has so far been unsuccessful.
