Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will return to his duties soon. Fico, 59, was shot in an assassination attempt as he left a government meeting in the town of Handlova on May 15.
According to foreign media, the attack left the prime minister in a serious condition and since then he has undergone two operations.
Fico last addressed the public in early June in a video posted on Facebook.
The Slovak prime minister thanked doctors for their care and said he could return to work "at the end of June or the beginning of July".
"I can't say that everything is going according to plan," said Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kalinak.
Kalinak said that Fico has recovered and is able to fully perform the duties of the prime minister.
Robert Fico was shot by Juraj Cintula, a 71-year-old writer and political activist.
According to court documents, Cintula said he had no intention of killing Fico, but told authorities he did so because he disagreed with "certain policies" of the current government.
