A police operation by the Greek special forces has ended in a revolt in the prison of Ioannina.
The Greek police had been investigating a group inside the Stavrakiou prison in Ioannina for 4 months, controlled by the one known as "Boss" or "Boss" and from the preliminary data it is suspected that it is about the Albanian convict Edmond Përbasha.
With his associates inside and outside the prison, including police, guards and officials, he controlled illegal activities including drug distribution. It is still not known what the crimes are, but unofficial sources say that at least 70 cases of illegal actions for the purpose of profit have been recorded.
The EKAM and MAT special forces, together with the Internal Control Service, intervened in the prison from 06.00 in the morning to execute several arrest warrants as well as to carry out checks for drugs, weapons, etc. It is learned that the arrest warrants are for people inside and outside the prison, including police, guards and officials.
The controls caused a revolt among the prisoners, who burned mattresses and other items. 3 fire engines went to the scene, while many police forces continue the operation. Some of the prisoners are known to have been transferred. It is also reported that the Prosecutor has also arrived at the scene. Other details are expected to be learned in the coming hours.
