Kreshnik Budlla, who was reportedly arrested today by SPAK after an anti-drug operation, is a well-known name in the Justice Department.

Kreshnik Budlla from Durrës has been arrested in Spain, as a wanted man from several countries together with his brother and another member of the tribe.

Kreshnik was caught in a Madrid hotel after months of investigation and manhunt in 2014, having previously escaped from prison.

Budlla is accused in Spain and Italy of cocaine trafficking and theft of several apartments, while he is also being investigated for a murder.

At the time of his arrest, the agents approached him. He has tried to avoid it, introducing himself under another name, but the attempt has failed.

According to Spanish media, he used 10 different names while escaping justice. He is accused of leading a criminal organization where other Albanians were also part of it while stealing apartments and trafficking cocaine, an accusation articulated by the OFL unit itself.

Kreshnik Budlla was suspected of killing his boss in Spain, in 2010, because of drug deals. But after the investigation, the Spanish prosecutors concluded that the murder had been prepared by Devi Kasmi, who was killed in an assassination attempt in January 2018 in Tirana.

In 2015 Kreshnik Farruku (Budlla) was assassinated in Albania. He was in the company of his brother-in-law, and two friends, when he was shot in the "Don Bosco" area, while a passer-by was injured. The track at that time was related to the disruption of drug deals in Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.

In 2023, after an operation by Europol and the Civil Guard in Spain, an Albanian drug and robbery gang, popularly known as "Farruk's clan", was dismantled, where 17 people ended up behind bars.

During the investigation, the organization was attributed numerous drug seizures in different countries of Europe, with the calculations showing that in total about 10,000 kilograms of cocaine and 10,000 kilograms of hashish were seized from Kreshnik Farruk's clan.

For the said operation, 250 police officers were engaged and 21 controls were carried out in the provinces of Cádiz, Málaga, Madrid, Barcelona and Toledo. So far, 25 vehicles and 22 real estates with an approximate value of over 4 million and 200 thousand euros have been seized.

The operation, also supported by Europol, began in September 2021 when agents discovered a group of people preparing to smuggle a large amount of cocaine hidden in a container through the Port of Algeciras. This fact was confirmed in January 2022, when 2 tons of cocaine were found hidden in a container that came from Guayaquil (Ecuador).

Since that moment, investigators have carried out painstaking work to identify and locate the members of the organization, as well as to determine their position in the hierarchical structure, including their leaders. In this process, it has been discovered that the organization is also responsible for other attempts to introduce cocaine into European markets. In this way, it has become possible to connect with the organization numerous actions that reflect the great capacity it had to introduce large quantities of cocaine through the main European ports in the last two years in Italy, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, the Netherlands or Spain.

The gang also had "kilo-kilo" deals, deals where two organizations agree to exchange hashish for cocaine, mutually benefiting from the low price of each source product (hashish in Europe and cocaine in South America) and the high price of sale at destination.

Clan Farruk, is a composite clan mainly composed of Albanians with family ties and is led by Kreshnik Farruku (Budlla).

They had been settled for several years in Spain, mainly in Madrid and on the Costa del Sol, for which there are numerous records, including murders and indictments in various European countries. Kreshniku was also known by the name "Niko" and there are several requests for him and he is currently on the run from justice. This family group, however, had hierarchy in running the organization. They personally participated in overseeing more delicate activities, such as extracting drugs from sea containers or transporting them to the organization's security sites.

The main strength of the organization was the large logistical capacity they had to carry out these operations around the world. Also, during the investigations, the agents have confirmed meetings between the main leaders of the Klan and important members of the Calabrian mafia. However, these alliances have not always reported positive results. When two tons of cocaine were seized in January of last year in Algeciras, a member of this Albanian clan, Ergys Dashi, was killed the next day by two people who shot him while he was having dinner in a restaurant in Guayaquil. According to the information received, this murder is directly related to the loss of drugs in the port of Algeciras, as Ergys Dashi acted as an intermediary between European Criminal Organizations and drug lords in Latin America.
