Angel Brahimi

After 23 years of international search, Angel Brahimi was arrested by the police in Montreal. He is accused of the serious incident that took place on August 10, 2000, executing police officer Astrit Braçe and his 8-year-old son with firearms in the place called "Pishporo", in Fier. The 10-year-old nephew of the deceased was also injured from this incident.

According to Canadian media, he had been living in Quebec for several years under the false name Piro Kote. It is believed that after the incident, Brahimi first went to Greece and then traveled to Canada with false documents, where he worked as a truck driver.

According to what the Francophone Journal de Montréal tabloid writes, Brahimi wanted to take revenge on the police because of the death of his brother during a confrontation with firearms that happened a few years ago in which Astrit Braçe was involved.

On August 10, when the Braçe police officer was walking on the beach with his wife and children, Brahimi ambushed him with a machine gun filled with combat ammunition. The Albanian authorities tried and sentenced him in absentia to life imprisonment for the crimes of premeditated murder, murder, attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons.

Brahimi was arrested in January of this year. While the Monteral Court is expected to give a decision on the request of the Albanian state to be extradited. The person sentenced by the Albanian justice himself has agreed with three defense lawyers and is expected to ask for bail next week in the Montreal Court.
