SPAK asked the court to confiscate over 18 million euros transferred to a bank in Albania under the name of Francesco Zummo, known as a member of the Italian mafia in Palermo.

During the announcement of the claim, the press office of SPAK announced before the court, the scheme of how the crime money was transferred with the help of entrepreneur Rezart Taçi was shown. For the hydrocarbon businessman, the preliminary judge separated the case where the driver and his brother-in-law engaged in this money laundering scheme were also under investigation. Since Rezart Taçi is being tried in absentia, he should be notified about the start of the judicial review.

Therefore, for the other two accused who were implicated in the money laundering scheme, SPAK requested their punishment also for the charges of the criminal group and committing crimes within this group. For Artur Balla, SPAK demanded his sentence of 13 years of imprisonment, which, according to SPAK, through the application of a shortened trial, is reduced to 8 years and eight months.

The guilty declaration was also requested for Bledar Lilo, for whom 12 years of imprisonment were requested and in the final, if found guilty, a third of the sentence should be deducted from the court, said the special prosecutor. Zummo and his economist Petruzzella, it turns out, traveled to our country with the aim of creating the conditions that led to the opening of accounts where the money would be transferred. During the investigations carried out in Italy, both of them were arrested as being involved in this money laundering scheme, which was considered to be a complex illegal financial operation spread over several European countries./Tch
