Public Commissioner Florian Ballhysa has appealed to the Special Appeals College (KPA) the decision of the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) on the confirmation in office of the prosecutor of Vlora, Aurel Zarka, arrested by SPAK on the charge of exercising illegal influence, as and for active and passive corruption.

This decision follows a recommendation from the International Monitoring Operation (IOM), which argued that an appeal and a review of the assets and other reassessment criteria by the Special Appeals Panel has become necessary following Zarka's arrest by SPAK and the charges against him for involvement in corruption.

At the end of his appointment, Commissioner Florian Ballhysa asks the Board to change the decision of the Independent Qualification Commission for prosecutor Aurel Zarka or to leave in force the decision of the KPK.

The former head of the Vlora Prosecutor's Office, Aurela Zarka, was confirmed in office by the Independent Qualification Commission on June 28, after a short hearing in which no problems that could affect her were noted. But a month later, on July 30, Zarka was arrested by the Special Prosecutor's Office.

According to SPAK, prosecutor Zarka and other persons are accused of exerting illegal influence on eight criminal cases that were being investigated in four different prosecutor's offices, cases which are mainly related to organized crime activities such as money laundering or narcotics cultivation.
