The prestigious British newspaper "The Guardian" lists the Marubi photography museum in Shkodër as one of the most impressive in Europe.

In the article entitled " I was amazed by the beauty " details are given about the first and most special museum of photography in Albania.

"The Marubi National Museum of Photography in the northern city of Shkodra is a miracle. Italian-born photographer Pietro Marubi opened the first photography studio in Albania in the mid-19th century, when the country was under Ottoman rule. Pietro Marubi and the 2 Albanians who inherited him, Kel and Geg Marubi, documented a fascinating period of Albanian history, from the beginnings of the movement for the independence of Albania, the Balkan war and the Second World War, to the communism of Enver Hoxha" , writes The Guardian .

The collection of exhibited photographs beautifully show all walks of life, revolutionaries, farmers, politicians, musicians, religion, the amazing variety of traditional Albanian clothing, and more.

The Marubi Photo Library is the richest photography archive in the Balkans. Only one of its archives contains about 500,000 photographs. The Marubi photo gallery has also received the status of a national cultural monument.

Last year, the ministry prepared the file for Marubi to be included in the Unesco world heritage list, but there is still no positive response.
