Laert Haxhiu's defense attorney, Detar Hysi, has reacted through a public statement regarding the news about his client's illegal "special" meetings in Drenova prison. 

He says that Haxhiu has not committed any such act.

The lawyer also emphasizes that this matter is currently under investigation by the Korça Prosecutor's Office and expresses confidence that the truth will come to light through legal means.

"As the legal defense attorney of the convicted Laert Haxhia, I want to clarify to the public that the news about meetings with unauthorized persons is false. This convicted person has not committed any such act, " the statement says.

Laert Haxhiu who has been sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with the Lushnja massacre.

On September 11, 2017, in a bar in the city of Lushnja, Laert Haxhia and Orges Bilbili entered the bar where Zamir Latifi, Jurgen Hoxha, and Xhulio Shkurti were, to execute Shkurti, after the failed assassination attempt in 2015.

Shkurti was the target of this massacre, who is the nephew of Aldo Bare.

With automatic weapons in their hands, they entered, shooting and leaving the two young men dead on the spot, while Shkurti at this moment managed to escape since he was not there.

Zamir Latifi and Jurgen Hoxha were killed in the incident, while Marius Xhepexhiu, the owner of the bar where the two victims were, and a passerby were injured.
