The new pre-university school year starts today. This school year, only 29,000 children are expected to start first grade. According to the data, the number of students starting first grade is about 4% lower than a year ago.
Education experts claimed that this number would have been even lower if the Ministry of Education had not lowered the age criteria for entering first grade.
Yesterday, the Minister of Education and Sports Evis Kushi congratulated the students and teachers through a video message.
"With the news that this new school year comes with many innovations for all students and teachers, I wish you a good and successful year!"- it was said in the status published along with her video message.
Minister Kushi underlined that this school year comes with many projects and initiatives for an equal and comprehensive quality education.
Also mentioned was the inclusion of the subject of Information and Communication Technology in the first grades, the new primer, as well as the opening of the high school for students of the Institute of Deaf Children.
