Lulzim Meçani had left Albania to work with the transport of fruits and vegetables in Hungary, but things did not go as he had thought.
Meçan had left for Hungary on September 11, 2023 and arrived there on the 12th. He had connected with a person named Enea Piktiu who helped him to go to work in Hungary.
But, while he often spoke on the phone with his wife in Durrës, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the job as it was not what he hoped for.
After a few days, he lost contact with his family.
In an interview for Uniko , the wife of Lulzim Meçan says that her husband seemed scared on the phone and asked to return to Albania, but the people he was in contact with did not allow him to go to work.
"When he answered the phone, he spoke with great fear. The calls did not last long, very few, with a different face, there was no peace of mind," says the woman.
The latter spoke with Enea Pikti, the person who sent Lulzim Meçan to Hungary. He gave him the contact of another Albanian in Hungary with whom he should talk. This person was Jani Demolli.
" I talked to him and told him is it possible to bring my husband back home and why do I need to get permission from you, however I told him I don't pay much attention to this thing, I want my husband at home. He answered me, how do you love your husband, how did he come or do you alienate him? When he told me like that, I didn't feel good at the moment. Something killed me in my soul because this did not seem reasonable to me. Even his phone calls had annoyed me a lot, but this thing annoyed me more. I said I love the man you brought me.
We again humble you to bring my husband home. Okay, he said, you have it at home tomorrow. I came home, at home I called my husband, I told him I talked to that Jani, I don't know who Jani is, but you will come tomorrow. He told me, alive or dead, I'm home tomorrow. He didn't like this job, he realized something was at stake. Then at half past eight, there was the last phone call that said that I will come home alive or dead, and we didn't speak again ," says Lulzim Meçani's wife.
