A 27-year-old Greek man with a previous criminal record has been arrested by Greek authorities as the murderer of 47-year-old Albanian Artur Bashimi in Athens, an event that occurred on August 18, 2025.
According to Greek media, the author had received the order from prison and was paid 15 thousand euros for it .
The amount of money he had received after the murder had impressed even the killer's mother, who was unaware of the execution.
She had told the 27-year-old boy that she didn't like the fact that he had suddenly accumulated a lot of money.
"You suddenly found a lot of money and I don't like it. Since the day you got this money, you haven't bought me a single meal," she told her son.
According to evidence in the case file, on the day of the murder, the perpetrator left his apartment in central Athens and arrived at the execution site on a blue motorbike.
He initially headed towards the café frequented by the victim. As soon as he saw 47-year-old Bashimi leaving, he shot him once, and his gun jammed.
He left, going to Alimos to a popular beach club, parked the motorbike and then returned home by taxi.
A woman's testimony was crucial to the case, as she told authorities that the perpetrator, whom she knew, had asked her to park her motorbike on the veranda of her apartment building in early June. When she returned on August 20, the motorbike was gone.
The victim, Artur Bashimi, has previously been in prison and accused of criminal organization, robbery, theft and money laundering .
A friend of the victim, after his murder, told Greek authorities that the 47-year-old, shortly before being executed, had told him that his brother, who was in Trikala prison, had been involved in an incident and had asked him to be careful.
The killer will apologize on Monday, September 8, and has already confessed to the police what he did.
