Residents of Maliq call for protest on Sunday

Residents of the municipality of Maliq announced this Thursday that they will rise up in protest regarding the new territorial map where 15 municipalities are merged.

Maliqi is also affected by these changes, as the Socialist Party seeks its unification with Korça.

Residents have announced a protest on Sunday at 7:00 PM in front of the municipality.

 

According to the draft law, 28 municipalities will be consolidated into 13 new municipalities.

The municipalities proposed to be merged are: Fushë-Arrëz, Klos, Rrogozhinë, Dimal, Poliçan, Patos, Divjakë, Selenicë, Maliq, Këlcyrë, Memaliaj, Libohëvë, Cërrik, Belsh and Përrenjas.

Changes

As predicted, the majority has brought about several changes, affecting almost all districts.

Starting with the largest district in the country, that of Tirana, the Municipality of Rrogozhina has already passed to Kavaja, while the "Mother Teresa" Airport will pass from the Municipality of Kruja to that of the capital.

In the second largest region in the country, we have the Municipality of Patos joining Fier, while Divjaka joins Lushnja. Roskovec and Mallakastra remain untouched.

The Elbasan region has undergone the greatest changes, with the municipalities of Belsh and Cërrik joining Elbasan, while the municipality of Prrenjas will join Librazhd. The municipalities of Peqin and Gramsh remain unaffected.

The Durrës region is also undergoing changes, as the Municipality of Fushë-Krujë will merge with Krujë.

There will also be changes in Gjirokastra, to which Libohova will be added. Other changes in this region include Memaliaj joining Tepelena and Këlcyra joining Përmet. Meanwhile, the minority municipality of Dropull remains untouched.

Korça will have 5 municipalities. Maliqi joins the southeastern city, while the other municipalities of Pustec, Ersekë, Bilisht and Pogradec remain the same.

The Kukës region remains the same with 3 municipalities: Kukës, Has and Tropojë.

In the Shkodër region, only the Municipality of Fushë-Arrëz changes, which merges with the Municipality of Pukë.

The Municipality of Vlora will be joined by the Municipality of Selenica, while Finiqi, Konispoli, Saranda and Delvina will remain as they are.

In the Dibër district, the change comes only for the Municipality of Mat, to which the Municipality of Klos will be added.

While in Berat, the Municipality of Dimal and Poliçan will be added, while Kuçova and Skrapar will remain as they are.
